More informationA unique coffee with an aroma that, through its intense and full taste, satisfies even the most demanding coffee lovers. This unique Southern Italian blend of Arabica and Robusta gives the coffee its typical Sicilian espresso flavor. Suitable for preparation in automatic coffee machines.
The brand name Tchibo is a combination of the name of co-founder Carl Tchiling and the German word for coffee bean (die Bohne). This fusion created a brand synonymous with enticing aroma and full, distinctive flavor — the Tchibo brand. Tchibo provides consumers with high-quality coffee tailored to the needs and preferences of customers. Tchibo does not buy coffee from external suppliers but grows it on its own plantations in selected locations. This allows for unique quality control from the selection of coffee varieties through to the final processing stages, which significantly influence the coffee’s taste and aroma.
Espresso
Espresso is a coffee drink originating from Italy. Its name comes from the words “fast” and “pressure” because espresso is made in a short time by passing water under pressure. True Italian espresso is made from 7 g of ground coffee, pressed with water at 8-10 bars of pressure and a temperature of 88-90 °C. It flows for about 25 seconds and contains 30 ml of liquid. On the surface is a hazelnut-colored foam about 1–2 mm thick, known in Czech as crema.
A darker crema color indicates too high pressure, often caused by too strong manual tamping of the coffee in the filter, resulting in a “burnt” taste. Maintaining the right pressure, temperature, and time is essential for proper extraction. Common mistakes include incorrect preparation time and volume.
Proper espresso contains only 20-30 ml of liquid, which looks like a small amount in the cup. Often people try to let the coffee flow longer, resulting in a bad taste.
For a larger volume, the coffee can be diluted with hot water (americano — diluted coffee), or prepared with two to three doses (14 g or 21 g) in a larger filter basket. The coffee remains just as strong but is more in quantity.
