More informationThis freshly roasted 100% Arabica is distinguished by its full, yet delicate body with hints of nutty and slightly spicy taste. It comes from the mahogany forests of the small coffee farming group Colonial Caranavi, which lies in the north of Bolivia and includes 41 small farmers. Each of them then cultivates an average of three acres of Bourbon and Typica arabica coffee trees at altitudes sometimes reaching up to 1800 m above sea level.
In addition to a sense of continuous improvement in the quality of their coffee, the farmers of the Colonial Caranavi group place emphasis on improving ecological cultivation processes, which not only excludes the use of pesticides and other chemical fertilizers, but also aims to improve the character of the local landscape. For this coffee, we chose a medium-dark roast, which offers the best ratio between fruitiness and acidity.
Bolivian coffee is grown at altitudes from 1,280 to 1,820 meters and the Arabica beans grown are exported mainly to Europe. The highest quality coffee is grown in the Yungas region, which is located along the Andean Mountains. Bolivia does not produce as much coffee as its neighboring country, but all the more interesting and novel coffees can be found here.
